Malaysia

I've arrived in Malaysia after the long 23-hour journey.

3 hours to get to Gatwick airport
6 hours to fly to Doha in Qatar
4 hours wait in Doha airport
8 hours to fly to KL
2 hours to get back my suitcase and drive to my in-laws

I managed to get three hours sleep on the plane, I watched a lovely South African movie called "Beat the Drum", about a child made made orphan from AIDS, child rape, HIV and fear and denial. And I bought myself a new digital camera Canon Ixus7i 7.1 Megapixels, very compact and that takes great shots, so I can show you Malaysia through my eyes, as a resident, not a tourist, not a local, not an expat - I was never either.

Arriving in KL, my first thoughts were how glad I was to have left. I drove through Petaling Jaya and could not believe the humble life I led in Malaysia. It seemed normal at the time... It feels strange, I feel so foreign to this country now.

Seeing Sudesh and Yen Ping tomorrow is going to be good and talking to Anna and my nephews tonight make it all worthwhile. Can't wait to see the little ones. Yay!!!

I never knew you were from Malaysia! I need to do more research I guess, and start reading the older posts. How long will you be staying there? God, you must be beyond jet-lagged.

Enjoy time with family!

I'm not Malaysian, but used to live in this country from 1993 to 1994, then moved back to be with Alex from 1999 to 2005, when I moved to the UK. I like to entertain the mystery about my past, like when I mention India, mention Malaysia etc. It might be a good idea to write a post about where I come from. :P

That would be interesting to read. But you are interesting as it is. Have a wonderful time with your family. I had a friend that went over there for work one time. He played chess on the computer with me.I dont know him for real like me and you. We talk on the internet here. But anyway he sent me a post card of Malaysia. He was doing some kind of lighting for a movie a few years back. He lives in New York City some where here in the USA. But from the post card it was beautiful. He also e-mailed me pix of it when he came home to the US. Amazing is all I can say. You will have to take plenty of pix. You should also post some pix of both you and Alex for us. I think you said that was his name.I am terrible with names. Faces if I have seen you enough i know you but names are horrible part of my memory. LOL.. WEll gotta run for now. Take care and be careful. Tweets.
