stupid thing to say

I apologise to my American readers who might be very fond of their president... but honestly the man isn't very sharp is he? Come'on did you hear his speech at the Virginia Tech University public mourning?

He said, in his second sentence... "they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time"; well, NO! They were just where they were meant to be, in school, in class studying because they were good kids who had hopes and aspirations. There are hundreds things he could have said to show his empathy and sincere condolences, this was not one of them. His speech was pathetic attempt at showing he cares.

He needs new speech writers. I don't think he's allowed to talk off the cuff anymore.

Dont apologize. That is fine. You have the freedom of speech. I dont blame you for being mad. You should have have heard my husband when I tried giving my view points on this on Monday or when it happened. He didnt like my thoughts one way or the other really...

Very, Very well said! As an American I can only shake my head at those remarks. What a tradgedy-yes? I don't even know how to start to process all that happened, and I have no contacts even close to Virginia Tech. One positive thing it does- in the process of grieving, talking, posting, praying, watching etc. For one brief tragic moment- we are all ONE- without race, gender, country, reliious affiliation, political aspirations etc. It's a shame like the bombings in London, 911, Columbine and now Virginia Tech have to be the things that unite us completely instead of say a Great Rock concert, babies being born, luaghter or 1 million other POSITIVE, moraly uplifting things! Well, Thanks so much for allowing me to Vent>

I too want to pee on a Harry Potter broom lou!. Or at least at a Quiddich match!

Blessings from across the Sea,

John

No offense taken. The guy is a putz. I can only hope America survives long enough to see his term end.

I didn't hear the speech. That is an awful thing to say.

Doesn't he pay someone to write this stuff for him?

As a parent, that would not console me in the least. On the other hand, I doubt anything can console the parents at this time.
